the set up

this is a little overdue but better late than never right?

here's a peek at the backdrop of the so-called pelamin for our bertunang ceremony. from top to bottom: 1. my father constructed the wooden arch that my step mother's fabulous friend, kak zai, then covered with cream colored roses, ferns & stems of dangling orchids, 2. the vases behind the sofa are filled with baby blue hydrangeas & sundal malam plus there were a couple of low arrangements of casablanca lilies, 3. the gorgeous pillows on the sofa are from my besties' boutique and can be purchased at metrojaya or parkson if you're interested. just look for the brand Renai.

here's part of my hantaran to bobby. from top left & clockwise: 1. sirih junjung done by my step mother, 2. tepak sirih, 3. macarons from shangri-la, 4. bunga rampai made by my grandmother & cousins, 5. grapes, 6. godiva dark chocolate assortment. what's not pictured here is the beautiful cake, thai silk for his baju melayu + songket, songkok+ butang baju melayu. the dulangs were done by Renai.

from left to right (click on the picture for a larger view): 1. the simple floral arrangement on each table set on top of the handmade table runner that iwan made for me & that we finished embroidering the day before (too bad you can't see the embroidery on the ends), 2. i opted to take away the standard ribbons on the chairs despite protest from many of my aunties because i felt the ribbons looked so, well, cheap. so glad i stuck to my guns because the effect was clean & calm, 3. the two tents to seat our 100 or so guests. it turned out we had about 200 guests but luckily we had enough food & lots of space in the house too.

and finally, iwan & i made some ruffle balls that i initially wanted to hang in the tents but because we could only make 20 in the short time we had, they looked kinda lonely spaced out in the huge tents. so with a little creative thinking, we decorated the grille to the main doorway with our handmade ruffle balls.

we just had to take a picture with our beloved balls (ok that sounds so wrong!)

i'll be sharing more pictures throughout the week so stay tuned!

crepe bouquet

i love this diy crepe bouquet from a field journal. might just do it.

ashley & derek

for some strange reason i keep being drawn to weddings that have a very soft, pastel theme with decidedly feminine touches whereas i'm usually drawn to quirkier stuff & bright colors.... perhaps i'm mellowing out in my "old age"?

anyways, the pictures above are from ashley & derek's fabulous wedding.

french inspired bridal shower

i first spotted this incredibly chic french inspired bridal shower over at shelby's fabulous wedding blog. go pop by & check out all her wonderful ideas & inspirations for her upcoming wedding that's just right around the corner! i'm SO excited for her so here's wishing her & her hubby-to-be a hearty congratulations & many years of joy & happiness together!

such pretty things

as mentioned in my other blog, i am head over heels in love with this blog i discovered last week. as the name of the blog hints, it's filled with such pretty things plus fantastic party planning ideas such as this tea party...

and delicate petit fours...

and dainty sugar cubes...

alhamdulillah

just a quick post to let you all know that everything turned out wonderfully! here are some early photos i took off facebook (thanks to zaidel & wai seng). there will be more to come as at one point i found myself grinning into seven lens! right now i need to go return the dulangs. more news soon!

vintage colors

i just realised that the colors i'm using for the bertunang are quite vintage-y (if there were such a word but you get what i mean right?). they're very much like the colors represented in the picture above entitled nubes vintage. it honestly wasn't intentional but came together serendipitously! just the way i like. anyways, today is set up day.... eeee, so excited!

status update

after a mad rush to get a whole bunch of things sorted out this whole week, today was spent relaxing, reading, catching up with my sleep & finishing up the few favors i still had to make. and wow, look at this: i even have time to check in on the blog! seeing almost everything checked off my list feels great & i'm feeling quite cool, calm & collected. let's hope that i stay this way...

tomorrow will be spent setting up the venue & hopefully, god willing, everything will come together as i envisioned it. i'm definitely looking forward to seeing all my closest friends & family members on saturday (which happens to be my birthday too!) along with my future husband's family who i already love as if they were my own. i can't wait to see bobby then too. with all this running around, we haven't really spent a lot of time together & i'm desperately missing my best friend.

here's hoping this saturday will be awesome! wish us luck folks :)

14.5.10

was feeling a bit stressed out about the whole hoopla coming up soon. all i had to do was tell bobby about it & somehow he found humor in it all & made me laugh. this is why i love this man.

p/s: i'm taking a break from blogging for awhile while i run around trying to sort out the bertunang coming up next week (oh dear god, it's next week?). i'll try to update whenever i can but in the meantime, do stay tuned.

12.5.10

night time

i was scrolling through blogs when bobby happened to look over my shoulder & asked me to stop at this particular post. we both knew that an outdoor wedding at night would be just perfect for us & these pictures kind of cemented the idea. now, if only it didn't rain all the time... anyways, this post is for you bi. maybe we'll get our outdoor wedding?

11.5.10

clusters

loving this cluster of lanterns & poms plus a garland strewn into the mix. i think they'd be perfect hanging over the tables for a whimsical twist.

10.5.10

origami

gorgeous origami tablescape i spotted on dandelion & grey. wouldn't it look awesome for a japanese themed wedding? yup, i'm thinking about it.

panic

feeling a wee bit overwhelmed now. with just less than 2 weeks to go to the bertunang, i still have tonnes more to do!

help.

(well, at least i have the FB event page set up & sent out evites. whew!)

kate + jess

ok, get ready for a deluge of pictures from a wedding i find so inspiring in its simplicity (although i'm beginning to learn that there's nothing simple about planning a wedding! heh.)

more pictures here.

eunice + daniel

hi there. took a short break to concentrate on a little side project but now i'm back & ready to share a whole bunch of wedding inspirations! first up...

this wedding has made a lot of rounds in blogland (including my other blog) but i just couldn't resist posting it here as well! this whimsical wedding is featured in the spring 2010 martha stewart weddings magazine which made me immediately rush out to buy a copy of. it's still currently available so i highly recommend you go pick up a copy because the handmade details put into this wedding is just unbelievable. more pictures here & here.
